Meet the board: Jessie Livingston

Tell us about yourself

A teacher by vocation, a mama and adventurer by choice, I am passionate about human rights and global issues, and I have a toddler who is teaching me to see the world through a whole new set of eyes.

I’m a regular at Prairie Lakes Aquatic Center, The DPPL, and Centennial Park Zip-line, and love to explore all the city of Des Plaines has to offer with my side kick in tow.

What led you to joining the DPCM Board?

I joined the DPCM Board because I grew up here in Des Plaines, and now I have returned with a little one in tow, and I believe that a Children’s Museum would be a great service to the plethora of diverse families in Des Plaines. My vocation is education, and I have always wanted to apply that in a museum setting. This is my chance to do that!

What are you most excited about for the future of DPCM?

I am excited about all of the magical connections we have opportunities to make by bringing families in the city of Des Plaines together. It is beautiful when a group forms organically with a collective goal of serving the people in the community they live in.

What are some of your favorite things to do in des plaines?

My favorite things to do in Des Plaines is walk my kiddo and our three dogs up to Brew Cafe for a treat, play at the splash pad at Lake Opeka, grab Sushi at Dotombori during their happy hour and hang out at the park to watch the sunset.
